The Keweenaw Unitarian
Universalist Fellowship (KUUF) is a Welcoming Congregation of people of
diverse religious and spiritual beliefs. We foster the free exchange and
exploration of ideas in a supportive atmosphere of mutual acceptance and
friendship. We believe in encouraging justice, equality, compassion, and
growth for all humankind, and responsible stewardship of our

Sunday Mornings at 10:30
July
6: Service by Sydney. Team Birch.
July 13: FORUM: "Local BioEnergy: Green
Electricity and its Economic Benefits" presented by Melissa
Davis. Team Oak.
July 20: Continuting our series of UU theological sources, our
Jewish and Christian heritage is the topic of the service entitled, "Who is My Neighbor?"
July 27: " UU Buddhism " as one of our theological sources and
a wide network within our denomination today.
August 3: A cooperative
service, in which Sydney & Miyoko will commemorate Hiroshima Day, and
explore "Peacemaking".
August 10: Annual picnic with Marquette at Van Ryper State Park, with our district Exec Ian
Evison.
August 17: Monthly Forum,
led by Merle Kindred.
August 24: "Direct
Experience" ( the source
concerning "...that transcending mystery and wonder, affirmed in
all cultures, which moves us to a renewal of the spirit and an openness to
the forces that create and uphold life ... "). with
monthly potluck
August 31: "The Wisdom Tradition" will look
at the ethical life we share with a world of religions and philosophies.
September
7: Ingathering
service, celebrating the beginning of our children's religious education
program with an intergenerational "Prophetic Women and Men" the source of our UU
perspective which names those who "challenge us to confront powers
and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power
of love).
Children Religious Education classes resume in September.

WEEKDAY EVENING COVENANT GROUP, please speak with Sydney.

Service and Potluck: You are invited to share a potluck picnic and outdoor
service at Van Riper State Park with the Marquette UUs on Sunday, August 10th
starting at 11 am. This has

the Annual Meeting on June 29, 2008
Committee
Reports and the Minister’s Report mentioned during the June 29 Annual
Meeting will be sent to members via the email distribution list by July 3,
2008. Some material may not be appropriate for public access outside of
the Fellowship. Therefore, reports will not be posted to the website at
this time.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Children
RE Classes resume in September.
Childcare is available every Sunday.
ADULT RE:
Earth-Centered
Spirituality: All those interested in becoming part of an
Earth-Centered Spirituality Group are invited to meet at the UU office at 9
a.m. on Saturday, July 19th for a trip to Laurium for savoring a panoramic
view of Keweenaw Bay and the Huron Mountains. Wear clothing, hat, and
shoes appropriate for walking a short distance into a field. Also bring
something to sit on, your binoculars (if you like), and any readings or items
that you think appropriate for this first gathering of the ECSP. We'll be
back at the office by 11 a.m. Contact Sydney or Merle Kindred for details.
Meditation: Every Friday at noon we gather for meditation instruction and practice
at the KUUF Office (the E.L. Wright
Building on 41 in Hancock
adjacent to Pat's Foods mall). A short reading is followed
by a period of simple silent meditation. Then
we talk a bit, end by 12:50, and return to our
day refreshed. All are welcome!
ONGOING…
COVENANT
GROUP meets on first Sundays at BHK.
On Potluck Sundays, if possible, bring
your own eating utensils to avoid using disposable ones. Wash them at home
with your next meal’s dishes. If you choose to use the reusable plastic
dishes provided by the Fellowship, please wash them yourself in the kitchen
to reduce the dish washing chore of the hospitality team.
